We asked some of our favorite musicians to tell us about some of their favorite artists, songs and moments from 2008. Here’s what Camila Grey from Uh-Huh Her had to say about the year in music.
Favorite Album of The Year:
MGMT-Oracular Spectacular
Favorite Rapper of the Year:
Kanye West
Favorite song to hear in the club:
Kaiser Chiefs: Never Miss a Beat
Favorite Producer of Year:
Always Brian Eno
Favorite New Artist of 2008:
Santogold
Hottest Verse of the Year:
Not sure it’s the hottest, but most confusing is from The Killers,” Are we human or are we Dancer?” I know it’s from a Hunter S. Thompson quote, but I still can’t quite wrap my tiny brain around it being singular and not plural. haaaaah.
Favorite Website of the Year:
postsecret.com (they make cool books too where people write their deepest darkest secrets and send them in)
Big Events in 2008 You Addressed On Your Album:
We addressed the state of how we’re (USA) perceived in the global community in the song “Everyone”.
Why Your Album Deserves To Be In Year End Best Lists:
Because it’s different from anything any other female fronted bands are doing…and we talk about aliens a lot. I mean c’mon people.
Personal Achievement You’re Most Proud Of:
We put out our first full-length record as a new band.
Most Expensive Purchase of the Year:
We decided to get a very expensive tour bus to do a US tour. Gas? Aye!
One Thing You Cut Back On Because Of Recession:
We’re slow and haven’t cut back on much.
Biggest Disappointment of 2008:
Prop 8 passing, and the inability for people to see that it’s a basic human rights and equality issue.
They talk about aliens a lot? lol
This pic of Cam cracks me up everytime I see it.
