The film by Cholodenko, who directed critically acclaimed indie films High Art and Laurel Canyon, stars Julianne Moore and Annette Bening as a same sex couple whose sperm bank children decide to search for their biological father.

The film also co-stars Mia Wasikowska, who was last seen in the title role of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

Los Angeles based singer/songwriters, Leisha Hailey and Camila Grey brought in a great crowd tonight at the Roxy with their fresh electro pop sound. Leisha Hailey may be better known as the spunky and political journalist, Alice Pieszecki, whom she plays on the hit TV show, The L Word, but she is no stranger to the music world. She was previously in two other bands, the Murmurs and Gush. Grey has also been around the music scene for some time, with the notoriety of attending college at the Berklee College of Music and also acting as the bassist and keyboardists in the band, Mellowdrone.

Tonight, the Uh Huh Her stage is set up in a way to let the audience know that Hailey and Grey are a team, and although Grey is the lead singer, she is not the main focus. The duo’s two synthesizers face diagonally toward one another at center stage, and while they perform, they catch one another’s eyes and smile. It’s always more exciting as an audience member to watch performers who seem to be having a good time themselves. Although these talented ladies are being backed up by a drummer and an electric guitarist, at certain points, Hailey plays bass, while Camila rocks it out on either the bass or electric guitar. But the key instruments tonight are the synthesizers, which create the electro pop sound that embodies their music. If you have the chance to check them out, I would. Not only will you get a great show, but if you buy merchandise at their concert, they will do a meet and greet with you at the end, which is definitely worth the thirty minute wait.
